Episode 8 - Top 5 Villains

Updated: Aug 17, 2021

Aaron and Steve, along with Special Guest Bud DeWayne, meet up to talk about their Top 5 Villains from the years 1980-2009. Some fan favorites, a few overlaps, and a few surprises come out as we talk about who made our personal list of favorite villains.

We decided to try out a new type of audio software for the podcast that allows us to bring in guests. In order to not waste a review episode in case it turned out rough, we elected for a bonus episode to discuss our Top 5 Villains. Lucky for us, it was a success and the episode was a blast to record.

Our first guest on the podcast was an old friend of both of ours named Bud DeWayne. An individual who was instrumental in the professional careers of both Aaron & myself, and who is also an avid enthusiast of the greatest eras of cinema.

What makes a good villain?

Right off the bat, we discuss what makes a good villain? Is it their plan? Is it their dialogue? Overall, we settled in on one major component of a movie villain, which is "Screen Presence." The kind of villain where they steal every scene they are in, and the movie would not be the same without them.

The episode has some great conversations about who these people are and the impact they have on the movie overall. We had some fun by trying to get the other hosts to guess our next pick by speaking a quote from the movie, in character if possible. There were some surprises, a few overlaps and overall some great pics for the greatest movie villains from 1980-2009. (We decided to keep it in the scope of the podcast.)

Spoilers below for anyone who wants to see the final results. Do you agree with out villains? Let us know on our social media outlets, or post a rebuttal in The Forum.
